BFTL Regular Meeting Minutes

Roll Call: Doug North, Debra Toppeta, Pat Haywood, Cristi Lamontagne, Rebekah Lamphere (abs), Stacey Hills, Sara Rogers (Director)

Members of the Public: none

MOTION 2418 to accept minutes of June meeting by Pat and second by Deb passed with voice consensus.

REPORTS:

Treasurer’s Report: 

  • 58% of the year has passed.  BFTL is at 65% for income and expenses.  $5,000 is in savings account from Annual Appeal, so extra funds from RBC will likely not be needed this year.
  • UHLS sent $240 for SRP and $1,343 for LLSA payment.
  • BFTL paid Stephentown the donated funds for our 4 campers to attend their program.
  • Payroll will be turned over to Stacey this week.  

Director’s Report:

  • June & July programs: Book Club; Story Time; Stitch Group; SRP;  Sing, Dance & Play;  SSC Awards Ceremony
  • June circ comparable to LY; July circ up 85 items from LY
  • BFTL summer newsletter sent to all on email list via MailChimp.
  • Some trouble with old and new printers.
  • Looking into basket weaving workshop.
  • Communicating with Dianne Mosher about coordinating with the UMC summer lunch program for people to stop here next. 
  • We can have 3 stories per year on the Story Walk.  
  • Thanks to Doug for the donation to find summer camp attendance.
  • Holocaust exhibit and presentation in fall/winter.
  • Remembrance of dedicated patrons, Slim Wheatley and Don French.

Committee Reports: 

Finance Committee: Chair: Doug North.  

  • $274K
  • Discussion of beginning 414 planning: Doug suggests asking for around $35K.  Doug contacted Tim to see if we have time to do this for this fall.  He will talk to Rob so he knows we are planning this. Sara will make a list of what the library will be able to provide and work that will be able to be done with this money.

Collection Development Committee: Chair: Vacant


House and Grounds Committee: Chair Rebekah Lamphere

  • Rebekah’s crew did some weeding and pruning. 

Public Relations Committee: Chair: Pat Haywood

Fundraising Committee: Chair: Vacant

Programming Committee: Chair: Stacey Hills 

  • All kids who were awarded attendance funds for the summer camp did attend.  Doug and Stacey will follow up on interviews for PR.  

Personnel Committee: Chair: Cristi Lamontagne

 Visit our StoryWalk® at the Berlin Elementary School after school hours. Read a picture book with your child while getting fresh air and exercise! It can be found on the walking trail next to the playground. Thank you to the BMHS' Community Active Mountaineers for their continued partnership with the library to make this resource available to our community.
